Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. Mitchell was recruited as a reporter by KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), which was based in Washington DC. She was promoted to Washington general correspondent for NBC News two years later. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was promoted to chief congressional correspondent by 1988. She was promoted to Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and the chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell hosted and was a panelist at the TV program Meet the Press. She was part of the panel at the 1988 Presidential Debates, which featured George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in The John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her role in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell started covering in the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. Mitchell was a reporter on a range of noteworthy stories, such as the Iran-Contra scandal as well as budget tax reforms and arms control. Mitchell travelled with President Ronald Reagan several times for summits, and to discuss issues such as and the Iran Contra scandal.
