Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known by her stage name of Ari Lennox, is an American singer and musician who hails from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. On October 21, 2016, she released Pho, her debut EP for the label Dreamville Records. This was when she first gained notoriety. The album that she released as her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012 following the release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. The singer continued uploading her songs online throughout 2014 and released her own single Bound. On July 21 2015 she appeared on Omen's album Elephant Eyes with the track Sweat it Out. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew at that time, wanted to have her create Rihanna and Rihanna-related songs. The 8th of December was the day she confirmed that she had been signed to Dreamville Records. She was featured on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. On October 21, 2016 her EP Pho was released. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and also performed as the opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018 she went on to be a guest on two of her songs along with label-mates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018, released her first single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video for it was also released on September 5th. Her second single, Grampa on November 9. Two additional singles were also released by her on 11/13 Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby was released in her debut single February 26, 2019, for her album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared alongside Cole in The Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. This track, which was made available with a video uploaded to YouTube on February 20, 2019, has been viewed over three million times over the first seven days. In December of 2018 she performed on her From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
